MEET JAS, A SINGER

8TH MARCH 2019

Jas, a singer-songwriter from London is causing a stir in the music scene, with her latest single ‘Hold Me Close’ set to be released in early 2019.  Having been surrounded by music for her whole life,  from her father who is a bass player who toured with Geno Washington and working closely with the late Colridge Good and Jesse Green, to her mother who was a dancer, it comes as no surprise that Jas has developed a strong musical ear for vocal arrangements and music itself.

By watching her father practising his craft and going to Jazz evenings with him, Jas started to understand the breakdowns of music, listening out for musical errors and correcting them in her mind, you can gather this strong musical ability instantly that has developed from a young age.

Having had a brief gap in her career, Jas has now returned with a new distinct sound that explores and fades into many different genres to create music that is new and exciting to listen to, taking inspiration from music she learnt at a young age.

In coming back into the music industry, Jas decided to recreate up to date material and pitch projects on Music Gateway. Through this, she began to connect with other like-minded musicians from all over the world, and together have been expanding the boundaries of her musical ability and exploring ways that have made her projects more sincere.

In the last six months, Jas’ musical career has come back with a bang. Working with people from all across the globe, she has completed entire albums, had featured artist shows and had tracks published from the ex-Director of Universal. Taking inspiration from a mixture of different musical genres including Deep tech, Urban, R&B and dance tracks, Jas has written and recorded vocals which have created her distinct sound and image.

Jas’ first project that she began working on was with Patrik Remann from PR Records in Sweden, building a strong base of music fans from outside the UK. Together they created a Deep Tech album that was released earlier this year.

“I haven’t worked with anyone in Sweden before this project, and I’ve enjoyed working with musicians outside of my hometown as its beautiful to work with other like-minded creatives from other cities, and your music can be heard and enjoyed in other Countries.”

Jas single ‘Hold Me Close’ is set to be released in early 2019. Written by Jas, produced by Whodiniz and mixed by Alex Hromcovs, it is sure to leave a mark on any listener. The track is about a person in this world surrounded by millions of people but still feels alone and empty, they can’t find love anywhere they once had love and felt love, but suddenly they feel alone although they are around many people. It’s an encouragement to keep love in your heart.

Jas commented on the single saying ‘It’s a different sound, but a very easy listen. I think it will have an effect on many people who listen. It’s a reminder to keep love in your heart and that the world always needs love, no matter what.’

JAS’ NEW AWESOME SINGLE “LOVE DRUG”

15TH SEPTEMBER 2018

The music scene in the UK has never been better. With several artists reaching acclaimed success. The National Post has decided to feature an artist weekly who we feel has the potential of at least making some noise in the near future — introducing, Jas, a singer-songwriter from London who recently released her debut single ‘Love Drug’ a few months ago. Since then she has received extensive reviews with the track from all the different streaming platforms.

Jas started her journey in music very young with one of her biggest inspirations being the fact that she has been surrounded by music for her whole life. Her father who is a bass player toured with Geno Washington.

“My father worked closely with the late Colridge Good, to her mother who was a dancer, so it comes as no surprise that Jas has developed a strong musical ear for vocal arrangements and music itself. By watching my father practising his craft and going to Jazz evenings with him, I was inspired and motivated to understand the breakdowns of music, listening out for musical errors and correcting them in my mind”.

Having had a brief gap in her career, Jas has now returned with a new distinct sound that explores and fades into many different genres to create music that is new and exciting to listen to. In the last six months, Jas’ musical career has come back with a bang. Working with people from all across the globe, she has completed entire albums, had featured artist shows and had tracks published from the ex-Director of Universal. With working from Deep tech, Urban, R&B and dance tracks, Jas has written and recorded vocals for many different genres of music creating her distinct sound and image. Jas’ first project that she began working on was with Patrik Remann from PR Records in Sweden, establishing music fans from outside the UK. Together they created a Deep Tech album that is going to be released in September this year. “I haven’t worked with anyone in Sweden before this project, and I’ve enjoyed working with musicians outside of my hometown as its beautiful to work with other like-minded creatives from other cities, and your music can be heard and enjoyed in other Countries.”

As well as an Urban /R&B album produced at Cypher Crew Entertainment to be released later this year, and working on a dance track with Alex Savanin, Jas has been working with Alex from Colddwarf productions on four dance tracks, writing and recording the vocals herself. This exciting project that worked on by Jas and Alex has landed its way into the hands of Steve Cole, the former director of Universal and now with Fantasy music which they will be publishing at some point this year. When was the moment you discovered that you had a talent for making music and you wanted to share with the world? At the age of I believe 14 I would go to a studio in a youth club on off Ladbroke Grove, Lancaster Road, West London. I would write and create music every Friday, and I enjoyed it. I would also have the opportunity to perform these songs in different venues in West London, that’s when I believed I had a talent for making music and I wanted to share with the world.

What is ‘Love Drug’ about?

When I wrote the song love drug, I was thinking about a woman falling in love again with someone who truly loves her also, and she is so excited! Her hopes of meeting the write one are not crushed, it’s mostly men that write songs like this for women, but it’s not that often that women do for men. I wanted to express that love, and long-term relationships still exist, and you don’t have to settle for just anyone you can even meet your soul mate. I wanted the song to be dreamy because most of us women are still hidden princess’s dreaming of a Prince charming somewhere in this world, I wanted something fresh, different and to bring hope again.
